Interested in flying cars? Is flying cars possible? How can you get it? Can people afford a flying car? Will flying cars be in the market? When the flying car will be in-market? From where we can get flying cars?
All your answers are only in this article. All you want is here.
Human beings are always crazy to fly above the sky. They always wanted to fly over the mountains and rivers. All these ideas and desires give rise to beautiful innovations. Out of these innovations, one is our flying cars which humans are always crazy about it. One of the dreams of humans is to fly.
What are flying cars?
Flying cars are basically a car that can fly or more we can say that a car can be driven on-road as well as can fly in the sky. A pure and clean design of a successful flying car is the design of a vehicle that can be flown and driven without any physical transformation without taking much time. This is no more futuristic.
All we are fulfilled with motor cars, jet airplanes, and ships. The only dream that remains is to fly personally without government or airlines flights. This idea of
flying cars is no more a fiction story. This dream is just been fulfilled very soon.
Slovakia, a country in Central Europe has fulfilled your dream. In
January 2022, he launched the
world's first flying car successfully. The Slovakian company Klien Vision Limited launched its flying car on 27, January 2022 from Nitra, Slovakia.
Slovakia Flying Car
The Slovakian company Klein Vision named their flying car, Aircar. The special feature about it that's it doesn't require any special fuel it runs on ordinary fuels as it is designed on a 1.6L BMW car engine. It means you can fill it with fuel in the ordinary petrol stations. It can fly up to 8000feet above the ground in the sky with a maximum speed of 190 kilometers/hour. At a time maximum of two people can sit on it and take a drive. It requires 3 minutes to transform from a flying car to a roadways car.
Basically to fold up the wings and to cover up the folded wings, it is automated without any interference of hand or doesn't require to be attached the wings. It requires a pilot license to fly Aircars. ITt doesn't require any runway to take off. It had taken 200 successful takeoffs and lands, hence doesn't have any trust issues. Talking about the price how much it cost is about 500000$ to 1 million $ depending upon the model. however, it will commercially available within 12 months.
It is far seen that in the future it will replace helicopters as it doesn't require any special fuel which means it is energy efficient.
History
It's not there that it hadn't tried to invent it earlier. But the lack of technology and insufficient money to invest as well as the pandemic was one of the major leading factors for its failure.
- In 1917, the first attempt was taken to make the first flying car possible.
The attempt was given by Glenn Curtis to make a roadable aircraft, but it was not much efficient. The name given to this innovation is Autoplane. It had also given the title of The Limousine Of The Air. When we talk about its flying ability then it can't fly, but t was lifted off some inches from the ground. But although it was a great achievement for them at that time.
- Another attempt was given in 1933 in the United States (US).
This was done by US Air Commerce Bureau. they had held a competition named The Flivver Competition in which they challenged people to make and submit a designer of a flying car for less than 700$. In this competition, many submitted their projects out of which the Aerobile of Walda Waterman was selected. But it can't come into production ever due to The GREAT DEPRESSION at that time.
- Again in 1945 another American inventor Robert Edison Fulton came into this field with his design of Airphibian.
We can say that it was a proper airplane. It takes 5 minutes to transform it into a car, which is basically to de-attach the plane part with the help of hands. It got the Flight Certification from the Civil Aviation Authority. Due to World War 2, there was a financial problem so it can't come into mass production. Basically, there was a compromisation with the design because it was neither a good airplane nor a good car. It also looks very wired after the de-attachment of the airplane part, after that it looks like a rat.
- One more trial in 1947, it was done by Industrial designer Henry Dreyfus.
It was also a failure overall because it looks like a car is just stuck under the airplane by mistake and flew up with it. It also takes 5 mins to de-attach the plane part from it. After that, it is usually an ordinary car. It was named Canvaicar. After two successful tests in its third test, it crashed due to a defect that is when the pilot noticed the fuel that it shows sufficient fuel so he tries to fly continuously but there was only fuel in the car part not much sufficient fuel in the airplane part to fly it continuously. Due to this mess, the plane crashed.
- Once more in 1949, Moulton Taylor worked on the design of Airphibian.
He came up with his idea of foldable wings and got his Flight Certification and also got the approval of mass production. It was known as Talyor's Aerocar. But after too many unsuccessful attempts no more people and companies are interested in this. So for mass production at least 500 orders are compulsory but it can't get as many 500 productions.
Once upon that time Ford Company had come up in this field of flying cars and decided to buy the Talyor's Aerocar but it's can't come into effect. Due to the scarcity of funds, it was not much flourish.
- At coming near to the final in October 2021, a Swedish company came up with its innovative idea.
The company Jetson launched its first prototype plane in January 2018 and made its first successful flight. It was working on it from 2017. It was like an extra-large drone. It can carry a man hence a single sitter vehicle. Its second prototype had come in October 2021.
It is totally made up of an aluminum frame hence light weighted. Its total weight is 86 kilogram. It can carry a man weighing 95 kilograms. It is very compact. It doesn't need any helipad. It can take off from your rooftops also from your nearest garden. According to US laws, it doesn't require a pilot license.
As per US laws single sitters, a home build vehicle doesn't require a license.
The company gives you 50% or half assembled parts. Hence the company is not responsible for any legal complaints. Moreover, co-founder Peter Ternstrom mentioned - We just want to have fun. Its idea was taken from the famous fictional comic The Jetson in which jetson had his private aircar.
Why didn't this come earlier?
There are too many factors responsible for its late invitation. Some of these are:
- Due to lack of technology.
- Insufficient fund
- Not much-interested companies
- Financial problems
- The great depression
- World war 2
Advantages of flying cars
- For emergency services
- No traffic problem
- No special fuel required
- Energy efficient
- No infrastructure needed can be used on pre-manufactured infrastructure
- Covers long distance in small time
Disadvantages
- Can't be used at night
- Can't use in bad weather conditions
- Require laws for traffic rules in the sky
- If a collision occurs then it's very dangerous
- Can't park cars in the sky when needed
- Require license for roadways as well as airways driving
- Can't get fuel in the sky
- There is no route in the sky may get distracted from the part.
- Noise pollution in the sky
- May be dangerous for birds.
